Fond du Lac Fusion Tournament Recap
Riptide 13 Blue began their Riptide experience with a hard fought, close match against Block Party 13-2. After dropping the first set 18-25, Riptide fought back to take the second set 25-15. After jumping out to a 10-8 lead in the third set, the girls couldn't hold on to a late run from Block Party. They dropped the third set 15-11. Riptide 13 Blue continued their run of close, tough matches during the remainder of pool play. The dropped matches to Burlinton Elite (25-20, 13-25, 8-15) and Falls VBC (22-25, 18-25).
The girls moved onto the Silver Division Semifinal where they faced the home Fond du Lac Fusion 13 White. Their playoff match was another well played, close match. However, Riptide couldn't overcome host Fondy Fusion, and lost 18-25, 25-27. Riptide 13 Blue will get right back to tournament competition next week at Oshkosh North High School on January 22nd. They will get a few weeks back on the practice court to refine their skills before returning to action on February 12th at UW Oshkosh. Riptide 13 Blue will finally get their chance to play at home when Riptide hosts a tournament at Berlin High School on February 25th. Finally, the girls will wrap up their season at Badger Region Championships on March 17th and 18th in downtown Milwaukee.
