Riptide 15 White started its season with a strong showing at their first tournament of the season in Fond du Lac. In their first match of the season, the girls defeated Block Party 15-1 (25-22, 25-9, 15-25). In their other pool play match of the morning, Riptide 15 White was only able to take one set from Falls VBC 15-1, and dropped the match by scores of 17-25, 25-12, 18-25. Their 1-1 match record earned them second place in pool play and a trip to the Gold Semifinal match. The girls split their first two sets of the semifinal match, and just couldn't put together an extended run in the third set. The 20-25, 25-18, 9-15 loss gave the girls a third place finish in their first tournament of the season.
Coach Rachel was very happy with the overall performance of the team. The girls communicated well, played aggressive defense, and implemented many of the concepts they spent the last month working on in the practice court. Riptide 15 White will return to competition on January 29th at Berlin High School. After a week of practice, they will compete at UW-Oshkosh on February 12th. The girls will get another crack at their home court on February 25th. Finally, 15 White will wrap up their season at the Badger Region Championships on March 17th and 18th in downtown Milwaukee.
