Riptide 17 Blue
WVA Invite Recap (1/22/12)
Riptide 17 Blue took another step forward this weekend with a second place finish at the WVA Invite. They started the day by topping WVA 17-2 (25-19, 25-16). In their second pool play match of the day, 17 Blue topped MVP 17-1 (25-21, 25-13). With first place in the pool on the line, the girls ran into a tough Lake Effect Select 18-1. They played well in two sets, but dropped the match 21-25, 22-25.
The second place pool finish put the girls in the Gold Bracket quarterfinal match. After defeating G-Force 16-1 (25-19, 25-23), Riptide defeated Capital Volleyball Academy 17-2 in the semifinal match (25-20, 25-22). They matched up against the host WVA 17-1 in the championships match. With hopes of their first tournament championship on the young season in sight, 17 Blue fell just short. The girls finished an excellent day with a 19-25, 13-25 defeat at the hands of WVA 17-1. It was an excellent day for 17 Blue, with a number of standout performances. Congratulations girls on a great finish!
Riptide 17 Blue added to their third place finish at Center Court in Waukesha (2-2 match record), with the second place finish at the WVA Invite. The head right back to the court this weekend at the Riptide Open on January 29th at Berlin High School. They will also compete on February 5th at UW-Oshkosh and March 10th at Capital Volleyball Academy. The girls will wrap up their season in Milwaukee at the Badger Region Championships on March 31st and April 1st.
