Riptide 17 White
Block Party Tournament Recap (1/8/12)
The Riptide 17-white came out with a bang in it's first tournament of the year at Milwaukee Lutheran High School (Blocky Party). The girls dropped their first match of the season against River City Anacondas (20-25, 19-25). They rebounded quickly with a victory over host Block Party (25-12, 25-18). The final match of pool play was a hard fought, close match, but the fell just short to Fox Fire (15-25, 25-20, 13-15). The team came out of pool play with a 1-2 record, which put them into the Silver Bracket.
The girls came out ready to play in the silver bracket. They won quickly in two games to Bay Thunder volleyball club (25-20, 25-22). The girls played their final match of the day in the Silver Bracket Championship. The first two games were hard fought and ended in a split (25-27, 25-21), but the girls of the 17-white squad won the third game decisively 15-5! There were some notable contributions in the team's Silver Bracket Championship day. Caitlin Scannell led the team with 45 digs, Jordan Hollatz lead the team with 23 kills, and Kara Rheingans set all the hitters up all day accumulating 66 assists. Hannah Harman and Kara Rheingans also lead blocking with 3 a piece, while Jessica Powers had a team high 8 aces on the day! The whole team worked very well together and all contributed tremendously to the performance! It was a very good showing for our first tournament and are very proud of the girls. Keep up the hard work and congratulations again ladies!
Riptide 17 White will return to competition in their only home tournament of the season on Sunday, January 29th at Berlin High School. Their schedule rounds out with tournaments on February 19th at Oshkosh North High School, and March 4th at Pulaski High School. The girls will complete their season on March 31 and April 1 at the Badger Region Championships in Milwaukee.
